Help from Florida

Posted by Bob Ford Fri, 18 Jun 2010 02:27:00 GMT

My wife and I have scheduled a week (7/17 through 7/23) in Williamette Valley for our 40th wedding anniversary. We will be staying in Newburg as our home base during the week. Was hoping some of the members could provide some advice.

Looking for places to enjoy lunch each day. Place or winery where we can enjoy a bottle of wine, good food and a nice view.

Any wine, wine tasting or wine dinner events open to the public.

Any other recommendations to make the trip as memorable as possible.  Must see wineries, etc..

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

There are some great restaurants in the area. The Painted Lady in Newberg is a good, quiet, romantic place for dinner. In McMinnville try Nick’s Italian cafe. Not too much in decor but the food is incredible. Have a drink first in the back bar where winemakers frequent. For lunch, Tina’s in Dundee as well as the Dundee Bistro which is right across from Argyle….a great place to try some Oregon sparkling. Also in Dundee is Press, a great wine bar where you can try a slew of Oregon wines by the glass with great nibbles/bar food and mingle with local winemakers if you go on Monday which is ‘industry’ night.

I would agree with Andria on the restaurants. For Wineries I would suggest the Carlton Winemakers Studio - as you can try lots of different small wineries including Andrew Rich. Anne Aimee has a great view. Also Domaine Drouhin (might need an appointment), Lemelson, Domaine Serene. Also go see Patrick at Dominio IV winery in his new facility - awesome wines. If you want a break from wine McMenamins Pub ยท Rooftop Bar in McMinnville is great place to grab a beer. Sounds like a great trip.
